I scored this sweet little nightstand (and its partner three drawer chest) for a song. I’ve wanted to do a transformation on a French provincial piece for a while, and was delighted when I found these pieces.
They sat in the garage all winter, but this spring set up my fancy-shamnsy sawhorse-and-plywood workbench in the backyard and got to work.
Now, I love the chippy pale chalk paint look but decided to take a different approach and paint them a deep, solid color. I hoard paint palettes (more on that in another post) and I chose an eggplant color from a palette that I put together based on an exhibit I saw at the Boston MFA a few years ago.
Here’s the before:
Pardon the blue tarp and half dachshund.
And after two coats of the deep purple paint –
I just reused the existing hardware – didn’t do a thing to it. I like the patina and I think it works well with the new color!
And there you have it! A straight up before and after.
Off it goes to the etsy shop!
